Signal Red

An aging, arthritic laborer named Shano insists on boarding a passenger liner bound for home despite a red alert warning of a Uranian fleet. After arguing his way aboard and signing a waiver, he hears Captain Menthlo explain that the ship will power down and maintain silence to evade detection. As the liner drifts in enforced blackout and emergency atmosphere, Shano wrestles with coughing fits, fading memories, and circulating rumors—especially a whisper about a notched jaw—while confronting the uneasy mix of longing for a final homecoming and the wartime danger that surrounds the voyage.
