His other notable works include "Memórias Póstumas de Brás Cubas," a pioneering example of the Brazilian realist novel, and "Quincas Borba," which delves into philosophical themes through the lens of social critique. As a founding member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, Machado de Assis played a crucial role in shaping the literary landscape of Brazil.
