About This Book
A scholarly presentation of a lesser-known language closely related to Finnish, based on field observations and collected oral texts. It documents speaker communities, transcribes songs, tales and other samples with Finnish counterparts, and compares northern and southern varieties. The work analyzes phonology and morphology, illustrating vowel loss, consonant alternations and other sound changes, and offers grammatical remarks, lexical examples and orthographic considerations to record and explain the language's structure and its relationships with neighboring speech forms.
