About This Book
A small trio of commercial aviators, reduced from reputable operators to itinerant barnstormers after mechanical mishaps, accept a fairground engagement that requires parachute stunts to earn money. Pride and blame produce fierce rivalry over who will make the inaugural jump, and the two most culpable pilots devise a dangerous contest in which both leap together and delay opening their chutes to determine who has greater nerve. The story traces their desperation, camaraderie, and the hazardous lengths they will go to restore their fortunes.
