About This Book
A young lion cub is introduced in his jungle family and the account follows his adventures from playful exploration and hunting mishaps through being wounded and trapped. After capture he is taken into a traveling circus, where episodes show him learning tricks, performing, and forming ties with other animals such as a dog and a cat. Encounters with people include frightening and humorous incidents, a runaway episode, and a later meeting with a tramp, with scenes alternating between wild settings and the performance world while examining curiosity, training, and the tension between freedom and confinement.
