About This Book
Several young men embark on a motor-boat cruise down southern rivers to contest for a silver cup, combining competitive racing with episodic adventures. Along the voyage they contend with mechanical failures, dangerous currents and a near-drowning, assist and rescue companions, and stumble into criminal episodes that lead to confrontations with bank robbers and lawmen. They become stranded in swampy backwaters, confront hunger and isolation, use resourcefulness and cooperation to survive, and conclude with a decisive race outcome and the awarding of the prize.
