Men Called Him Master

The author retells the life and ministry of Jesus in a continuous narrative that brings readers into the historical setting and the company of his followers. Calling stories, teachings, parables, miracles, disputes, and the passion narrative are dramatized and supplemented with background material to clarify disciples' struggles to understand, the meaning of the Kingdom of God, and the forces that led to his death. Episodes are sometimes reordered and expanded for coherence, and Scripture references are supplied at the back to show which elements derive from Gospel texts and which are narrative reconstruction, with an eye toward understanding discipleship then and now.
