The book examines the life and work of a Bruges-based artist, reconstructing early training and career, identifying and analysing earliest compositions, tracing stylistic development to mature altarpieces and portraits, and surveying major panels and diptychs held in local institutions. It situates the artist in the civic and courtly culture that shaped commissions, highlights characteristic motifs, technique, and devotional imagery, and follows posthumous reputation through periods of neglect and later reassessment; the study is illustrated with color reproductions of representative works.
