About This Book
The narrative follows Jack Mason, a young man whose city troubles prompt him to go out to a frontier ranch. Arriving with a new automobile, he becomes entangled in local tensions: a mysterious newcomer, a romantic interest named Josephine, and conflicts among cowboys. The plot moves from social gatherings and rodeo games to darker dangers including Josephine's abduction and a daring rescue, the discovery of a counterfeiting operation hidden in secret passages, gunfights, a raid, and the disappearance of an airplane. Episodes of investigation, pursuit, and a large roundup resolve the threats while tying together themes of loyalty, courage, and frontier justice.
