Mahomet, Founder of Islam

A biographical study traces the life of a religious leader from birth and youth through periods of meditative retreat and reported revelation, the emergence of scripture, early preaching, persecution, and flight to Medina. It follows the organization of a religious community, military engagements and treaties, disputes with local Jewish groups, pilgrimage negotiations and the eventual return to the holy city, and his death. Throughout, the narrative examines how claimed divine inspiration, legal instruction, and political leadership interacted to create the institutions, laws, and communal identity that defined the early faith.
