About This Book
An aging monarch decides to divide his realm among his three daughters, rewarding flattery and disinheriting the honest youngest. The two eldest quickly turn against him, strip him of authority and dignity, and his despair leads to a catastrophic mental collapse. A parallel story follows a betrayed noble and his sons, one honest and one treacherous, producing disguise, blinding, and attempts at redemption. Military movements, family treasons, and failed restorations culminate in a bitter final conflict that ends with multiple deaths and unresolved sorrow. The work probes authority, filial duty, sight and insight, and the fragile line between reason and madness.
