La Recluse

The narrative opens with a dramatic sea episode in which a small, graceful schooner is struck by a sudden, violent storm and a young officer struggles to keep his crew and vessel alive. After the prologue the action shifts to land, where a secluded woman becomes the center of a tense moral and interpersonal conflict inside a convent. Encounters grow heated as secrets, threats, and questions of duty and compassion surface, producing a melodramatic sequence of revelations and confrontations that bind the maritime peril to the domestic and spiritual crises that follow.
