La Falo de Uŝero-Domo

A first-person narrator arrives at the decaying ancestral mansion of a childhood friend who suffers from acute mental and physical distress. The narrator records the house’s gloomy atmosphere, the friend’s hypersensitive temperament and artistic preoccupations, and the household’s isolation and hereditary decline. A fragile female relative and a pervasive sense of rot and pallor deepen the mood. Gradually unsettling sounds and visions escalate into a final sequence that blurs psychological collapse and possible supernatural causation, culminating in the literal disintegration of the family line and its dwelling.
