In the Land of Cave and Cliff Dwellers

A traveler-led expedition through northern Mexico and the Sierra Madre recounts journeys across Chihuahua and Sonora, visits to mining towns and mountain passes, and close study of ancient ruins and cliff and cave habitations. The narrative combines topographical description, natural history, and ethnographic observation of indigenous communities, their dwellings, and funerary remains, with reflections on possible causes of past catastrophes. It records muleback routes, river canyons, waterfalls, mining districts, and encounters with wildlife, and blends personal travelogue with archaeological and mineralogical notes gathered during the exploration.
