History of Friedrich II of Prussia — Volume 19
The volume follows Frederick's near-overwhelming crisis in 1759–1760 during the Seven Years' War, tracing spring small-war disruptions and Ferdinand of Brunswick's action at Bergen, the operations of Dohna and Wedell including Züllichau, and Frederick's unsuccessful attempts to solve the Russian threat culminating in the disaster at Kunersdorf. It then covers the collapse of Saxon defence and the siege of Dresden, Prince Henri's rapid marches, the diplomatic maneuvers that send Russian forces home, and Frederick's personal illness and the Maxen catastrophe. Winter-quarters material examines military miscellany, the failed French invasion at Quiberon Bay, peace efforts, and contemporary literary correspondence, preparing for a new campaign.
