Fred Fearnot's New Ranch / and How He and Terry Managed It

Fred and Terry execute a startling market reversal that earns them modest profits and provokes a vendetta from rival brokers, whose nephews hire thugs to attack them. They repel the assault, obtain testimony, and publish the truth, forcing the rival broker into disgrace. With their gains they return to Texas to manage a new ranch, hope to expand the herd, and attempt to persuade family members and sweethearts to join them despite reservations. The story alternates tense financial maneuvering, episodes of violence and vindication, domestic negotiation, and the practical work of establishing and improving ranch life.
