Frank on the Prairie

The narrative follows two adventurous boys who join an uncle and a seasoned trapper on an overland journey to the prairie, traveling by wagon and mule across western plains. Their campaign of exploration and hunting includes antelope, buffalo, and bear encounters, a grizzly confrontation, a dangerous night among wolves, getting lost, clashes with hostile parties, and episodes with outlaws and traders. Interspersed are the trapper's reminiscences and practical frontier skills that shape the boys' maturing resourcefulness, while the journey culminates in return travels and reflections on the trials and camaraderie formed on the plains.
