About This Book
The narrator, a recreational deep-sea angler, reels aboard a four-foot aquatic alien who identifies as a Grenarian and requires constant proximity to water. Hoping to secure formal contact, the narrator wraps the creature in wet towels and drives ashore to fetch an academic, but while away the housekeeper and cook mistake the visitor for ordinary fish and prepare it for dinner. The attempted diplomatic encounter collapses when the academic refuses to cooperate and the narrator is left to confront the consequences of a misunderstood first contact.
