Dusty Star

A young wolf named Kiopo arrives at a northern camp and encounters mistrust and violence from resident huskies while a camp dog, Dusty Star, watches and intervenes. The narrative follows seasonal shifts around Carboona as wolves, foxes, and other wild creatures contend with hunters, predators, and each other, including episodes of capture, daring swims, and fights with lynx and grizzlies. Scenes explore wolf rites, medicine-making, shifting allegiances, and the instincts that govern pack life, culminating in coordinated hunts and tests of loyalty that reveal the precarious balance between survival and community in the wild.
