Doris Force at Locked Gates; Or, Saving a Mysterious Fortune

A spirited teenage girl spends a summer investigating a secluded estate whose gates are reputedly locked and whose residents are reclusive. Encouraged by a schoolfriend, she and her companions follow clues that lead to strange receptions, suspicious visitors, hidden rooms, and a notable discovery that brings accusation and later vindication. The plot mixes youthful camaraderie and amateur detective work with narrowly averted danger, resolving a domestic mystery through persistence, careful observation, and loyal allies, and concludes with protection of a disputed fortune and restoration of the household’s reputation.
