Die Entwicklung des gutsherrlich-bäuerlichen Verhältnisses in Galizien (1772-1848)

An archival study traces the changing landlord–peasant relationship in Galicia after its incorporation into the Habsburg domains, examining rural legal status, landholding rights, corvée obligations, and administrative reforms. It surveys eighteenth‑century village institutions and social divisions, analyzes Josephinian reform measures and their partial reversal, assesses nineteenth‑century policy experiments and reactions, describes the 1846 rural uprising and ensuing governmental interventions, and concludes with the process of peasant emancipation and the implementation of urbarial regulations. The narrative integrates legislative texts, official reports, and archival sources to map economic, social, and administrative drivers of agrarian change.
