About This Book
A young American accompanies his father to Europe as hostilities erupt and soon becomes entangled in the chaotic evacuation at Dunkirk; after he and an English companion are captured they face imprisonment in enemy camps, plotting and executing an escape. The narrative follows their hazardous journey back through war-torn France and Belgium, intercut with perilous aerial operations, bombing missions, and close rescues, as the boys confront danger, resourcefulness, and the strain of combat before a dramatic push toward safety on the English coast.
