Dave Dashaway and His Giant Airship; or, A Marvellous Trip Across the Atlantic

A resourceful young aviator joins an ambitious project to build a giant airship intended to cross the Atlantic, assisting a veteran airman and a wealthy backer while also fulfilling exhibition obligations with a separate monoplane. The narrative tracks construction, rivalries and schemes, a theft and ensuing pursuit, and several perilous flights that include storms, mechanical failures, a stowaway episode, fire at sea, and forced landings. Encounters with hostile and friendly figures, narrow escapes and clever seamanship test the crew's skill and character, and the voyage culminates in a dramatic conclusion that resolves their transatlantic enterprise.
