About This Book
A retired spaceman lives quietly on a riverbank in Florida, concealing his alien origins while savoring open sky, fishing, and simple routines. He supports himself and befriends local children by using a small device that analyzes and duplicates matter to produce food and copies of currency, and which can also transmit items across space but would reveal his location if used. He tells the children true stories of other worlds and shares the device only with a few trusted youngsters. Mundane Earth problems, especially an inability to tolerate insects, challenge his contentment and expose practical and ethical limits to his secret technology.
