About This Book
The narrative follows two young nobles whose separate fortunes lead them through wooded landscapes, marshes and rustic hamlets into a sequence of adventures that include journeys, concealments among outlaws, councils and pitched battles. Along the way they meet allies and enemies, test fealty and courage, and negotiate feudal rivalries through stratagem and combat. Episodes alternate quiet pastoral scenes with martial councils and warfare, culminating in marriage and the restoration of social order while exploring themes of loyalty, love, honor, and the interplay between wilderness and society.
