About This Book
The story follows a man who, after demonstrating a talent for mind‑reading and marrying the woman involved, is later ensnared by circumstances when a neighbor is found murdered. A secret nocturnal visit to the victim, intended as an apology after a public quarrel, becomes damning evidence; fearing arrest he flees, plunges into a river, and survives to rebuild a new life in the West. Wealth and distance do not erase his longing to clear his name and rejoin his family. The narrative traces exile, the weight of suspicion, domestic devotion, and the desperate effort to restore honor.
