About This Book
The narrative traces the church's evolution from Czech reformist roots and the fractious aftermath of its early martyrdom, through the emergence of a communal Brethren movement, to an eighteenth-century renewal led by a German nobleman that established a model settlement and launched wide-ranging missions. It follows missionary expansion, encounters with Methodists, internal controversies over doctrine and organization, and shifting fortunes in Britain and America. Later chapters examine theological disputes with rationalism, administrative restructurings, and the adaptation of congregational life and principles into the modern era, closing with an account of institutional condition and global reach as reform and revival shaped the church's identity.
