About This Book
A widowed mother and her family leave famine-stricken Bethlehem for Moab, where the husband dies and both sons marry local women; after the sons also die the mother decides to return home. One daughter-in-law refuses to leave, pledging loyalty and adopting the mother's people and faith, and they arrive at the barley harvest. The loyal woman gleans in the fields of a relative named Boaz, who recognizes her devotion, provides protection and food, and responds kindly after learning how she cared for her mother-in-law, opening a path toward security and reintegration in the community.
